EZ (pronounced E–Zee as in Easy!) Campers were another US company which recognized that the growing demand for Westfalia Campers far exceeded supply. Based in Littlerock, California, the company began converting Panel Vans around 1963/4. As well as supplying conversions, they also proudly declared ‘EZ Camper will convert your VW 211 van into a wonderful weekend cabin on wheels!’ This accounts for the variations found on EZ conversions.

The model was called El Viajero (the Traveller) and, like Sundial, Riviera and other US conversions, it was closely modelled on the Westfalia interior. Blazoned across brochures, the words ‘Beautiful! Practical! Versatile! Compact!’ encapsulated everything the company stood for. Although at first glance very similar to the Sundial, the interior specification was more luxurious.

The 1965 EZ Camper opposite was based on a Kombi, meaning EZ did not have to fit crank windows, and features an original factory option of six pop-out side windows. Unusually, plain birch panels were fitted instead of the EZ grooved wood panel style. The fitments are all original, including the striped, fringed awning. The Bus was donated by Dane Dawson to the Arizona Bus Club, who refurbished and repainted it to use as a charity fund-raising raffle prize at their annual event, the Jerome Jamboree, in 2004. At this stage the Bus still needed new paint and a rear bumper.
